9-BALL – In 1994, JOHNNY “The Scorpion” ARCHER (25) was up against Mexico’s RAFAEL MARTINEZ at the Sands Regency Open in Reno, Nevada. Archer won this event in 1992 and 1993. He also was the runner-up at the 1992 U.S. Open 9-Ball Championships. Martinez was making a name for himself by just defeating Nick Varner and having some high finishes in the 1992 and 1993 U.S. Open 9-Ball events.
